So, I've Started . . .

But I haven't gotten far. I'm overdue for a Christmas decoration shopping trip. I always say I'm going to hit the after-Christmas clearance aisles but by the time it's over, I'm ready to put the stuff I have away and not buy more. So, for now, I'm just working with what I've got, which is alot of shiny ornaments.

And, "Bob" the Elf made his official debut tonight. This is the first year the Elf on the Shelf has stopped at our house.

Tomorrow night, we get the tree :)

Cyber Monday

Since today is "Cyber Monday," thought I would add these two reads to my Christmas wish list.

Does anybody have any feedback on these? What's on your wish list?

It's Beginning to Look Alot Like. . .

Time to get out the Christmas decorations. Hope everyone is having a happy Thanksgiving day!

Fun Etsy Art. . . .

I was thinking about some fun artwork for my master bathroom walls, which are still very bare, except for the Chap Stick mural provided by my 3-year-old. . .

In my search, I ended up spending way too much time on Etsy, but did find some good stuff. Although it's used often, I still think this is well-suited for me and I love the color:

On a side note, I usually don't like the other versions of this poster, but I did find this and thought it would be pretty fun in a nursery:

Then, I came across these black & white prints. . . . I love the writing on them. Something about these makes me think of one of my favorite bloggers, Ms.Limestone :)

How would you use these--in a group, or pick just one?

Decisions, decisions.

Delicious Dining Rooms

In honor of Thanksgiving day, I thought I would share some of my favorite dining rooms. Bon appetit!

This may be my very favorite--the mirror, paint color, orange captain's chair--all of it!

From Bad to Blue to Better

My dining room is definitely a work in progress. So, as I (not so) patiently await the day I can wallpaper, I decided to make a few quick changes to cheer up the space.

You may remember my latest ugly lamp purchase:

After:

I am really liking this shade of blue, as of late. I think it gives the room a little life.

Craigslist Finds of the Week

My love for Craigslist has probably become apparent by now. And, since I can't buy every great deal I find (not enough room, not enough money!), I thought it would be fun to post a few of the best items I find each week for my local readers (in and around the Charlotte, NC, area). In other words, these are great finds at great prices--somebody buy them! Then, call me and I'll help you decorate around them :) I seriously believe that you can furnish an entire house for a fraction of the cost by shopping this way.

At the time of posting, all of these items were still available.

This chair is actually a little pricier than I would normally look for on CL, but I am loving the lines and the black and white fabric would be great with other pops of color. Plus, it's in great condition.

I also thought this little rocker with nailhead trim would be adorable in the corner of a nursery. And, only $10!

And, finally, this could be wonderful for that person who is looking for a little drama in their decor!

It will definitely need a little TLC--clean up and minor repair--but at $40, I think it's a find. Just think of the possibilities:

Goodbye Oprah, Hellooo Nate!

So, word on the street is that Nate Berkus may soon have his own talk show. . .The other Oprah spin-offs I can live without, but this is one show I would surely watch (or at least Tivo) on a regular basis.

A little weekend inspiration: some of Nate's best rooms.

My Finds of the Day and an Easy Update. . . .

Today, I went on a quick accessory shopping trip to two of my favorite budget-friendly stores--Ross & Goodwill. This is what I returned home with (not much, but enough to work with for now):

Ross purchases

Found these silver trays at Goodwill for $2 each. I think the person with the price sticker gun got trigger happy.

A $5 begging-to-be painted lamp (complete with an inch of dust), also from Goodwill. Thought this would be fun in a bright color when I figure out where it's going.

Speaking of ugly lamps awaiting makeovers, check out these beauties I got from a furniture warehouse last weekend (also $5 each).

Truth be told, I already had two cream shades that I found for $2 each a while back and I thought the shape of these might work with them. They just so happen to have a date with this can of spray paint tomorrow. . . .

One of the goals of my shopping trip was to try and make this area under our staircase a little more interesting. The ornate mirror seemed to be out-shining the rest of the accessories and the black picture frames were too bulky for this spot.

Thirty minutes and lots of old books later, I came up with this:

I am happy with it (for now). The total update cost me $8, plus the time it took to drag the books out of boxes.

By the way, this little display is sitting on one of the best yard sale finds yet (found by my dad). This chest was just $30 and already painted.
