Umbrella Stands: the Perfect Accessory for Your Entry

In anticipation of April showers, I've got my eye out for a pretty umbrella stand to place beside our front door.  (Okay, in reality, I rarely carry an umbrella.  It really becomes just one more thing to hold while trying to get three kids in the car in the pouring rain.  But, I like the idea of it, anyway. . . )

Regardless of whether you actually use the umbrellas, the stands can be a good way to jazz up an entry way.  Almost like jewelry for your front door:

This is one of my favorites that can be created by turning a ceramic garden stool upside down.  And, these are now popping up at places like Ross and TJMaxx for $20-$30:

I'm thinking of a brass one for our entry.  I recently spotted one similar to this at a consignment shop for $12 and was feeling indecisive.  I went back to get it and it was gone.  Ugh!

Also really like this one:

So, I'll keep shopping for now.  Next, I'm going to need some pretty umbrellas. . .

  1. They are all so different in style and yet, I love a couple of them. I rarely use an umbrella either, but I adore the one on the last picture. So intricate. A true conversation piece, don't you think? Great post, as always.

  3. What a great idea to turn a garden stool upside down! Also liking the owl, with all the rain in Oregon you'd think I'd have one of these!

  7. Love the brass! I also really like the Ashley Whittacker bamboo one but I can't imagine it does a good job of keeping the surrounding floors dry from the wet umbrella. ALSO I love these but I have one of the short, travel-sized umbrellas from J.Crew and you need the cool, long ones for this to be practical. Ok. Those are my thoughts! Haha - definitely go with brass.

  14. Interesting post!

I use a huge solid brass cartrige case from a combat vehicle rocket. My BIL used to be a career officer and I got it from him. It weighs a ton and takes forever to polish, but it looks very cool.

  15. It's pouring buckets in Boston, so my umbrella and Wellies re getting a workout! Our umbrellas are the short, fold-up kind. I plan on spray-painting and sealing an old trash can to serve as an umbrella stand, since it's low and wide. Just need to settle on a color!

  20. I'm crazy about Jenny's (LGN), but not sure my home is as formal as that one looks, you know? Still that it was DIY, is pretty impressive.
