Because I Can’t Pass Up a Bargain…

Just wanted to give you a heads up that I was in Hobby Lobby yesterday and while I was there, they were marking all of their Christmas clearance down to 80% off.  I know you all are probably Christmas’d out, but I found a few fun things for almost nothing, including lots of cheap tissue paper, a cute chevron tray, plate and bowl set, a pre-lit 4’ tree for one of the kids’ rooms ($12) and some big, fluffy garland.

I’m trying to convince myself the garland looks wintry instead of Christmassy so I can leave out for a few more weeks:

I normally don’t buy any after-Christmas anything because I just don’t want anymore stuff to put up.  But, I guess it’ll be a  nice surprise in eleven months or so.

Do you buy more Christmas after Christmas, or are you completely done with it?

(And, if you’ve found any great deals we can’t pass up, post in the comments!)

  1. Ugh...after Christmas is over I can't even think about buying more Christmas stuff! I guess I miss a lot of good deals. Oh well. Happy New Year! www.mendezmanor.com

  2. I try to buy as much as my Christmas stuff after the holiday, and then I put it away to use for next year. It's kind of fun to open up my Christmas box and see all my goodies! Target went 70% off a few days ago, and I was able to get a few sets of the plates that had words written in gold like "all is calm." I can't wait to use them next year!

  4. I love Christmas sales and never get sick of them- actually it makes me sad. I wish it was November again so I could be planning and decorating for Christmas again!!

I'll have to go check out these sales at Hobby Lobby- thanks for the heads up!

  5. That's when I usually buy a few more ornaments to fluff up the tree...more lights in case I lose some strands at next year's testing...and of course...wrapping paper! :)

  6. I tend to stay away but then when everyone pulls out the great finds they scooped up during Christmas next year, I am always so envious. We just trotted off to Goodwill with a ton of Christmas decor. But now I am itching to go to HB to find that cute tray!

    1. I think the tray ended up being less than $2. The cute matching plates were around 60 cents each Hurry! :)

  7. I always buy all my decorations after Christmas! I love the excitement of looking in the box in november and seeing all the new thing sI have to work with! i do need to start writing down why I bought the things I did, because sometimes there's no telling why!

  8. I love after Christmas sales! While I was unpacking my Christmas decorations this year I was thinking that I should buy lights to hang outside. Then I opened one of the boxes of decorations and there were 5 packages of lights! I had bought them half-off the year before!

  9. This might be just the excuse I need to stop at Hobby Lobby this afternoon!

  10. I always get my wrapping paper and party plates/napkins after Christmas. But a few years ago I got a $179 wreath at HL for only $35! It is spectacular!

  12. I love the After Christmas Sales! I mean it's hard to pass up 75% off or more. K-mart is a great, often over looked, spot for after Christmas sale decor. Both Martha Stewart and Country Living have lines there and K-mart isn't as popular as some of the other retailers so there are deals to be had.

  13. I know I should but I don't. I do the same thing at the end of winter when I should buy a new coat and don't....lazy!

  14. It has been a fun family tradition (sisters, and mom and dad) to go out the day after Christmas for all of the half off sales. We all probably have enough Christmas decorations to do three full houses (and our own houses are decked), but we still go out - every year - and still buy Christmas decorations the day after ... we LOVE IT!!!

  15. Great finds. I got a tree skirt from Wisteria for $35, originally $150! Happy Shopping!

  16. I love the way you used your new garland and definitely think that, when left undecorated, it's a great piece to use all winter!

  17. If I pass by a sale, I'll definitely browse a bit but I don't typically go out of my way for sales. I never let myself get too Christmas'ed out! I'm already excited for next Christmas...cause then I can bust out all the discounted ornaments I scooped up : ]

  18. Oh yes!

I always buy tons and tons of tissue paper, especially white. I normally wrap all of my inventory in it when I am shipping.

Let me scoot to Hobby Lobby now!

  19. I try to only buy things that are true bargains AND items that I will definitely use on the after Christmas sale. This year I got two big rolls of really cute wrapping paper, fancy Christmas cards, some envelope seals & Christmas sweets at Target's after-Christmas sale. We went on the 27th, but left empty-handed because 50% off just didn't feel like a good enough deal. On the 30th everything was 70% off so I got all of the things listed above for about $10!
Also, I LOVE the Christmas chevron tray / plates that you got! Nice find. You make me wish we had a Hobby Lobby around here.

  20. I've never been to Hobby Lobby and since they are new here you've peaked my interest. I'm such a sucker for a sale even if I don't need it.

  21. I ordered the cutest pair of booties from Anthro last night - regularly $145, on sale and with their additional 30% off the sale stuff brought the price of the booties to $20.00! I am only bragging cause this NEVER happens to me!

I am completely Christmas'd out! Make it stop!!!!!!!!!

  22. I love to buy things after Christmas on sale!!! I didn't use to but now I love to unfortunately I haven't done it this year! I need to go see if anything is left!

  23. After every holiday I buy one or two things on clearance and it is such a nice surprise to pull them out the next year after forgetting I had purchased them...and such an inexpensive way to add to holiday decor! Love it :)

  24. I buy after every holiday and am always surprised when I go to unpack boxes. Soon I will also be able to hind my own Easter eggs....lol Looking forward to the Valentine stuff.

  25. I ONLY buy Christmas stuff on clearance after Christmas! In the last two or three years with the state of the economy, it has been a lot harder to find awesome stuff at the usual places because other people are starting to do this too.

  26. If I find staples on sale, I will pick them up (ribbon, gift boxes, tissue), but usually pass on the rest as I find my taste changes from year to year!

  27. I always want to buy holiday things after the holiday itself but for some reason, I never do. I keep thinking I need to change that!

  28. This year, I bought a TON of stuff at Target for 70% off earlier this week. But in my defense, I don't have a lot of Christmas stuff, so I'm working on building my collection. $5 glass trees are right in my budget.

  29. Thank you SO MUCH for sharing this. After I read this yesterday I stopped in our local HL and found a $200.00 pre-lit Christmas tree for $40! Next year all the kids ornaments and what we (lovingly) refer to as "the ugly-back-of-the-tree-but-you-can't-throw-them-out ornaments will be going on this tree. Mama's finally going to get her pretty tree in the living room!

  30. Great stuff at pier 1 a couple of days ago at 75% off. I got some mercury glass large votive cups filled with candles, with jeweled front for 2.19 instead of 9 dollars each. These will be year round decor in my lake home powder room.
